Dorothy Cooke

Dorothy W. Cooke, 85, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011. She was born July 7, 1925 in Wake County, the daughter of the late Robert Lewis and Audrie Ferrell Williams. Her husband of 37 years, James William Cooke, Sr., preceded her February 22, 1985.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Cooke of Cary and Joy Futrell and husband Glenn of Durham; her sons, James William Cooke, Jr. and wife Gloria of Durham and Lewis Cooke and wife Mindy of Durham; her six grandchildren, Lauren Hicks and husband Ed, Jonathan Futrell and wife Esther, Tansley Cooke, Joshua Cooke, and Justin Cooke, Ed Powers and wife Cindy; her three great grandchildren, Lilly and Chloe Hicks and Taylor Powers; many nieces and nephews; and family friends Donald and Gina Proulx.

Special thanks to Heartfields of Cary and Cary Dialysis, the Dorcas Sunday School Class, and to Good Hope Baptist Church for their acts of kindness.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Apex Funeral Home, 550 W. Williams Street, Apex. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 2 PM at Good Hope Baptist Church, 6628 Good Hope Church Road, Cary NC 27519 with the Revered Keith Vaughan officiating.
