Doris Davis Giles, 89, passed away peacefully, after a long, beautiful life, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Doris was born November 3, 1927 at her family's farm in Morrisville, NC to Sidney Wendell Davis and Dora Butts Davis.
She and her husband, Lawrence Wendell Giles raised their family in Farmers Branch, Texas. She was active in her community, church and president of the Farmers Branch Garden Club. She retired after a long career in the banking industry. For the last twenty years of her life she settled in Dripping Springs, Texas to be near family.
Doris is survived by her children and spouses, daughters Brenda Ahrns, Darlene and Darrell Ray, son Daryl and Duryonna Giles. Doris was affectionately known as 'Mama Giles' to six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her sisters, Swannie Dawkins and Wanda Cooley of Milton, Florida and her brother, Willie Lee Davis of North Carolina and many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 49 years, Lawrence Wendell Giles, parents, Wendell and Dora Davis, brothers, S.W., Bobby and Wade Davis of Morrisville, North Carolina. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of three years, Ernest Williamson of Dripping Springs, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Sorrell Grove Baptist Church. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment to follow at Butts Family Cemetery on Family Farm Road in Morrisville, North Carolina.
