Doreen was born on April 21, 1926 to the late Beatrice Hiopson in Cowen, England. In 1965 she immigrated to the United States, and, after a few years in Canada, moved to Maine. She later moved to North Carolina to be with her family.
Doreen retired as a cafeteria supervisor at Bates College (Lewiston, Maine). She enjoyed working with the staff and took pride in helping students succeed.
She loved doing arts and crafts and was very creative. Her talents included needlework, sketching, and floral arrangements, among others. One of her favorite activities was creating a yearly theme for her Christmas tree, and then making many of the ornaments herself.
She’s also remembered for her weekly Friday jaunts to Crabtree Valley Mall, where she and her red walker could be spotted chatting with friends, checking out the new fashions, and getting her weekly Gloria Jean’s coffee.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Graham Jagger (Jacqueline Kruse), and grandchildren Bryan, Lindsay (John), and Vanessa (Kyle), and daughter Ann Jagger.
Memorial contributions may be made to Second Chance Pet Adoptions of Raleigh.
