Deborah Ann Simmons

Born in Henderson County, KY, December 13, 1949, a daughter of the late Harry Barbee and Ava Olean Robinson Hatfield, she was a business entrepreneur with several ventures dealing with petrochemical and fiber markets. She was a member of Triangle Grace Church of Durham and had also been a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Raleigh for some time.

Besides her husband John, Deborah is survived by her daughter, Megan Simmons, and her granddaughters, Chloe Simmons and Alexa Simmons-Schubert.

A memorial celebration of Deborah’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 at Triangle Grace Church, 5001 Tudor Place, Durham. Pastors Jeff Spainhour and Raymond Cobb will officiate. Burial will be private in the Concord Christian Church Cemetery in Elon.

In lieu of flowers, gifts and donations may be made in her memory to the Triangle Grace Church or to Staff of Hope, a missionary team focused on East Africa at staffofhope.org.
