Courtney Bartels

Courtney Marie Bartels was called to her Heavenly Home on July 19, 2022. She was born in Prince Georges County Maryland on December 31,1980. Courtney graduated from Towson University in May of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in the areas of sociology and anthropology. After graduation, Courtney spent a year working abroad in Hamburg, Germany with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, Young Adults in Global Mission . Her duties included working as a missionary in a group home in which she served adults with developmental and physical disabilities. After she returned to the United States, she continued her work serving individuals with special needs in the Washington, D.C. area. In 2011, she moved to Holly Springs, North Carolina to be with the rest of her family. In North Carolina, she worked in a variety of positions that involved serving and caring for the individuals with special needs. In 2013 she began working as a CNA at Waltonwood in Cary , North Carolina. At the time of her passing, Courtney was employed by Bayada Home Health Care, where she worked one on one with clients in need of care. Courtney lived her life in service to others.

Courtney is preceded in death by her twin brother Joshua Bartels. She is survived by her parents Jack and Darlene Bartels of Holly Springs, North Carolina, her brothers Matthew and Jeremy Bartels, her sister Bridget Peacock, her two nieces Riley Peacock and Ada Bartels and her nephew Ryan Peacock.

Courntey will be laid to rest in Bowie, Maryland.
