Cornelius was born on May 10, 1939 in Boston, MA to the late Cornelius and Delia Agnes Sullivan.
Neil enjoyed a career in medical sales as well as financial planning. He enjoyed playing golf, vacationing in Aruba, and visiting amusement parks and waterslides with his children. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh with friends and family, a “fun loving Irishman”. Neil served as a Eucharistic Minister to hospital patients for 17 years, he taught CCD to high school kids, and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. He joined FEMA after Hurricane Katrina and traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi to help the residents displaced by the disaster. Through other types of volunteer work, he helped countless other people, truly leading a life of service.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Kathleen Sullivan, Patricia Rein, Jean O’Hara, Barbara Sullivan, and a brother Paul Sullivan, all of the Boston area.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his wife, Rosemary Catherine Sullivan of Cary, NC, his daughter Christine and her husband Raymond Schulze of Havre de Grace, MD, his daughter Rosemary and her husband Michael King of Raleigh, NC, his son Neil and his wife Kristen Sullivan of Cary, NC , four granddaughters, Jessica King Shea, Kelly King, Kate and Melissa Sullivan. He also leaves behind a sister, Mary Jane and her husband Anthony Scola of Squantum, MA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mother Teresa Catholic Church in Cary, NC. Mourners are welcome to visit with the family, prior to the mass, at 10:30 am. He will be laid to rest at Wake Memorial Park Cemetery.
