Claude Jackson Beckwith Jr. unexpectedly, went to be with the good Lord in heaven, at his home, of natural causes, on December 11, 2021. Born to Claude Sr. and Vera Beckwith in in February 20, 1924, in E. Chatham County N.C. Claude graduated from Bells High School in 1941. Claude went on to serve his country with the 410th Bomber group, as ground maintenance for A-20 attack bombers, in England and France, during WWII. After WWII, Claude worked 40 years and retired with Carolina Power & Light co, as the supervisor for the Northern Division garage in Garner, NC. Claude was also a faithful member of the New Hill Baptist Church.
Preceding Claude’s death was wife Magdalene, sons Gerald and Patrick Beckwith (Peggy); brothers Harold, Charles, Donald Beckwith; sister Peggie Young. Claude leaves behind his son Daniel James Beckwith (Kay) of Cary; sister Helen Pike of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; granddaughter Dawn Pearce (Brian) of Raleigh; step grandson David Yoder (Pam) of Benson, NC and step granddaughter Christina Clark (James) of Rhoads Ville, VA; two great grand- children, Matthew and Madelyn of Raleigh, NC.
A visitation will be held at New Hill Baptist church on December 15, 2021 at 10:30 am with a funeral service and graveside to follow at the New Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jim Holder will be officiating the services.
