He is preceded in passing by his parents Ralph and Betty (Hassler): brothers Douglas, David, and James (Jimbo).
Paul is survived by his bothers Thomas (Laurie), Daniel (crystal), and Patrick (Tina), and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, along with many friends.
Coop grew up in Anoka and the town was always close to his heart. He enjoyed playing softball at John Ward Park and golfing at Greenhaven. He was an accomplished oil-on-canvas painter, his brushes and paint always close at hand. Coop painted signs for many businesses around Anoka, including the press box “Anoka Tornadoes” at Goodrich Field. This was a natural talent as he had no formal training.
Coop’s sense of humor and calm demeanor endeared him to many people who became close friends, some dating back to Washington Elementary School. He graduated from Anoka Senior High School in 1978 and played soccer for the Tornadoes. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Coop's life will be held Thursday September 22 at 5pm at the Anoka American Legion Post 102. 400 W Main St. Anoka, MN 55303
