David L. Johnson of Anoka, MN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 26, 2024. He was born in Erie, PA on January 15, 1939, a son of the late Don and Elizabeth Johnson. He lived in Bedford, PA for 58 years before moving to MN. He was hired by AT&T immediately following his high school graduation, and worked for them for 31 years. He took early retirement so he could spend full-time telling others about salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ, which he did in many places in the US and the Bahamas. On September 28, 1963 he married Marjorie (Baseler) Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Daniel (Joyce) Johnson, Julia (Robert) Higgs, Philip (Jennifer) Johnson, all of MN, and Andrew (Deanne) Johnson of Reading, PA; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Priscilla McClenaghan, widow of Robert, and his brother Timothy (Martha) Johnson. Visitation will be held at Trott Brook Gospel Hall, 17301 Nowthen Blvd. NW, Ramsey, MN on Nov. 4, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., with funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Special thanks to Triniti Hospice and to the caregivers on the Memory Care Unit at The Homestead at Anoka. Memorials may be sent to Living Word Bible Camp, 34319 Living Word Trail, Grand Rapids, MN 55744. Dave loved to spend time studying his Bible, and he did that until the last few months of his life. Some people called him a “walking Bible” because he could remember the chapter and verse of so many scriptures. His greatest wish would be for someone to come to know Christ as their Savior. John 3:16 was his favorite verse, which he quoted often: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” He would be quick to say that he was going to heaven because of what Jesus Christ did on the cross, not because he deserved it.
