Anniston - Funeral services for Mr. Willie Willis, 80, of Anniston will be Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Hutto officiating and burial following at Anniston Memorial Gardens with full State Trooper Honors. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 27, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral Home.
Mr. Willis passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at RMC in Anniston.
Mr. Willis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Crossley Willis; daughter, Marian (Randy)Haynes, sisters, Gaynelle (Terry) Wright, Betty (Jerry) Willett; brother, Frank (Sandy) Willis; grandchildren, Mallory R. (Adam) Wheat and Matthew Taylor Haynes; great grandchildren, Addyson Joy Wheat and Alyssa Grace Wheat; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Willis is preceded in death by his sister, Frances Borrell; father, Gaynor Willis; mother, Mamie Willis-Dulaney.
Pallbearers will be Brian Crossley, Chris Crossley, Keith Crossley, Adam Wheat, Taylor Haynes and Nathan Patty. Honorary pallbearers will be Retired State Troopers.
Mr. Willis was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County where he was a graduate of Alexandria High School class of 1953, he served from 1955-1958 in the U.S. Army, 1964 he was employed at the 1st Anniston ABC store when it was opened and in 1964 was hired on as an Alabama State Trooper where he retired in 1992, Mr. Willis was also a graduate of the 102nd session, FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. In 1975.
