Visitation will be Sunday December 29, 2019, from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Gray Brown Service Mortuary. Funeral will be at 2:00pm, with interment to follow at Edgemont Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Chappell, Jeff Chappell, John Chappell, Joey Dupeire, Brad Dupeire, Jordan Dupeire, Matthew Odom, Evan Lambert and Wayne Harris; and honorary pallbearer, James Richard Chappell, Chad Broome, Billy Wayne Chappell.
Mr. Chappell is survived by his sons, William Steven Chappell and Ronald Fred Chappell; daughter, Rhonda Chappell Dupeire; brother, James Richard Chappell; grandchildren, Christina Chappell, Angel Chappell Walden, Tracie Chappell Broome, Joey Dupeire, Brad Dupeire, and Jordan Dupeire; great-grandchildren, Morgan Hobbs, Madison Hobbs, Mallorie Hobbs, Bryson Schoenbaum, Matthew Odom, Evan Lambert, Grayson Lambert, Logan Dupeire, Caden Dupeire, and Madelyn Dupeire.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Harvey, Sr. and Eva Chappell; brothers, William Earl Chappell, Billie Fred Chappell, Jimmy Lewis Chappell, Thomas “Tommy” Marion Chappell, and Jerry Wayne Chappell, Charles "Charlie" Ray Chappell; and his sister, Betty Jean Chappell Harris; and granddaughter, Heather Chappell.
He graduated from Anniston High School, Class of 1948. He was an avid HAM radio operator, and a STRONG advocate and President of The World Eagles Organization. He retired as a Drill Sergeant and Signal Corp Instructor in the Army after 20 years of dedicated service to our country, and spent his later years as an electrician. He enjoyed his retired life and his hobbies.
Mr. Chappell was very loved by all his family, and will be missed dearly.
