Funeral service for William Earl Carter 63 of Anniston will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Chaplain Jeffrey Steward officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 at Gray brown Service. Mr. Carter passed away Wednesday in Anniston.
Survivors include daughters Carmen Carter Slick (Brandon) of Oxford, Gwen Carter Tirban of Oxford and Hope Carter of Jasper, Ga., son Scott Carter (Kristina) Marietta, Ga., step-sons Wayne Humphrey (Katrenia) of Anniston and Monroe Humphrey also of Anniston, grandchildren Cayden James Slick, Carter Slick, Kyra Faith Tirban, Adrienne Padgett, Elizabeth Padgett, Matt Carter, Hunter Carter, Osceola Carter, Adrien L. Humphrey, Richard Monroe Humphrey, great grandchildren Richard Monroe Humphrey Jr., brothers Warren Carter (Madeline) of Jacksonville, Kenny Carter (Mary) Tallassee, Al. , Phillip Carter of Electic, Al, and Mike Carter (Leesa) of Golden Springs, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carter is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Vernist Carter, wife Dorothy Haynes Carter and sister’s Barbara Brewer, Martha Dickman.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Mr. Carter was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a veteran in Korea. He worked 17 years at Southern Tool and 10 years at Wal-Mart before his illness. He was loving husband, father and PaPa. Special thanks to Alacare Hospice Chaplain Jeffrey Steward and Kelley Moore. ROLL TIDE ALL THE WAY.
