Jacksonville– Funeral service for Mr. Warren Gregory Carter Sr., 67, will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Alexandria Valley Church of God with Rev. Byron Duke, Rev. David Duke, and Rev. Walter Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2017 at his home in Jacksonville.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Madeline Carter; daughters, Tonya Carter and Patrick Poore, Shellie and Kent Beasley; son, Warren Gregory Carter Jr.; brothers, James Carter, and Phillip Carter; grandchildren, Sarah Beasley, Hydrick Sarrell, Brieanne Sarrell, PFC. Joshua and Taylor Beasley, Bryton Sarrell, Caleb Carter, Auburn Sarrell, Hunter Carter, and Caithyn Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Poore, Ken Robertson, Nathan Carter, Thomas Evans, Ronnie Estes, and Gerald Estes. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons.
Mr. Carter is preceded in death by his parents, Verist Ruth and Clyde Henry Carter; sisters, Martha J Dickman, and Barbara J Brewer; brothers, William Carter, Kenneth Carter, Clarence Carter, Dennis Carter, and Paul Carter.
Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army for 20 years of service where he served three tours in Vietnam before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer CW2. He was a member of DAV and volunteered at Jacksonville Health and Rehab. He helped numerous veterans get their disabilities. He was a native of Calhoun County. Mr. Carter was a member of Alexandria Valley Church of God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who will be dearly missed. Mr. Carter was a die-hard Alabama Fan.
