`Funeral Service for Travis Edward Fleming, Sr., 78 of Alexandria will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Rick Reaves and Dr. Stephen Anthony officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Fleming passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at Stringfellow Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Putnam Fleming; children, Travis Fleming Jr. (Susan), Darlene Mintz (Chris), Dana Frazier (Carey) and Denise Fleming; step-children; Kristi Jennings (Tommy), Tommy Pentecost (Angie) and Shaun Eller (Mark); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Russell and Gail Bushard; brother, Larry Fleming; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dolly Maxwell Fleming; parents, Tracy and Zonie Fleming; brother, Paul Fleming; and sisters, Alva Gulledge, Eva Suggs and Juanita Hollon.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Blake Jennings, Lee Pentecost, Alan Pentecost, Matt Miller, Vince Miles and Matthew Fleming.
Mr. Fleming was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a member of the New Life Sunday School Class and Goodtimers. He was a 1957 All State Football player at Ohatchee High School and played semi-pro football for the Ft. Lauderdale Tigers. He served in Vietnam with the US Air Force and retired in November 1999 after 20 years with the Air Force. He also retired after 27 years with Goodyear.
