Shirley was born in Brookwood, AL and raised in Bessemer. Her family came to the Anniston area in1952, and moved next door to the Cleghorn family. Her parents moved back to Bessemer in 1954. She graduated from Anniston High School in 1953.
She was a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church, Diamonds in the Rough Red Hat group, and A Stitch and a Prayer quilting group. Shirley had a great sense of humor. She was a “life changer”. Everyone who came in contact with her had their life changed for the better. She did everything with excellence.
She was an excellent wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, an excellent seamstress, and quilter. She was a loyal and faithful friend.
Shirley’s children would like to recognize the nurses, CNA’s, and administrative staff of the Cleburne County Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave to their mother during these trying times. She received care above the call of duty, and they are forever grateful.
