Sammy is survived by his wife, Ladonna Murphy; his daughters Amy Motes and Lori Alligood (Charlie); his sons Jason Motes and Jared Cunningham; his mother Earnestine Murphy; his sisters Diane Murphy (Denny), and Christine Glass; brother Dennis "Eddie" Murphy (Michelle); grandchildren Chloie Alligood and Braden Alligood and several nieces and nephews.
Sammy was preceded in death by his father James O. Murphy.
Funeral services for Sammy will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Good News Assembly of God with Rev. Marty Phillips officiating. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the church. Sammy will be laid to rest in Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery, Hwy 431, Alexandria, AL 36250.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Sammy was a native of Shelby County and a resident of Calhoun County. He graduated from Jacksonville High School and Ayers Technical College. Sammy was a member of Good News Assembly of God. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Sammy enjoyed doing mechanic work and working on lawnmowers.
