Phillip "Ski" Stanley Kysiak Sr, age 72, of Oxford, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 after a battle with cancer. Phil was born July 9, 1949 in Tyler Texas to what became a large and loving family.
Services for Phil will be Saturday at 11:00 AM at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Steve Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Phil is survived by his wife of 37 years Joan, daughter Betty Baker (Trever), granddaughter Valarie, great granddaughters Taylor and Mia, son Phillip (Leslie), grandson Patrick, granddaughter Angelina, four brothers and six sisters Jim (Marlo), twin brother Paul (Valerie), Joe, Pete (Jolene), Camille Johnson, Patty Brockington, Theresa Grinberg, Ruth Fannon, Rosemary Wilbur, Myra Hawkins, numerous beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Special caregivers Cindy and Lewis McCarley, Gary Henderson, Ed Davidson.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Carolyn Kysiak.
Pallbearers will be family members and family request casual dress.
Phil served in the Navy in 69, 70, 71 in Vietnam on the USS Asbare. Phil continued to use his skill as a mechanic while in the Navy to work at the Pontiac-Cadillac-GMC Truck dealership under several owners.
Phil loved his motorcycle and was one of the first members of the Cheaha Harley-Davidson Chapter. In the chapter Phil met many other riders who shared his love and became close friends. Phil especially love to ride to Dayton Bike Week, doing so for 18 years. Another great ride was to Sturgis. He enjoyed riding in charity rides especially for children. Phil was involved with the community for many years of his life.
