Norris “Pops” Rolax, 80, departed this Earth on Tuesday July 26th, 2022. Mr. Rolax was born May 29th 1942 in Manchester, GA. He was the son of Willie and Miley Rolax. Mr. Rolax lived in Georgia until the age of nine before moving to Youngstown, OH where he entered the military at the age of 17. Mr. Rolax served 20 years in the US Army, serving two terms in Vietnam. He retired at Fort McClellan where he met the love of his life. Upon retiring from the military, Norris began working at Anniston Army Depot where he retired after 36 years of service. He loved fishing by the lake, playing a game of pool with his sons or sitting down to watch football as he was a lifelong Alabama football fan. His infectious laugh along with his strong, carefree demeanor made him loved by so many. His devotion to family was admired by all who knew him.
Norris is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eleanor Hudgens-Rolax; sons David (Allison), Lance (Laura), Richard (Katie) and Daniel (Avery) Rolax; two grand-sons and two grand-daughters.
Services will be conducted by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with visitation beginning Saturday at 1:00 pm and services following at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, AL.
