A lifelong resident of Calhoun County, Alabama, Mary Emma Parton Acker was born in Ohatchee March 11, 1926 to her parents, Alves and Eva Parton, who preceded her in death. She passed November 2, 2022 at her home in Ohatchee, at the age of 96.
She graduated from Ohatchee High School in 1945 during World War II. Afterwards Mrs. Acker married Ohatchee native Gerald Acker and started their family. Her husband of almost 65 years, he preceded her in death in 2016. Mary Emma is survived by her 3 sons, Slayton, Aaron (Debbie), Mark (Joy) Acker; one daughter, Carol (Lane) McNew; 10 grandchildren, Andrew (Heather) Acker, Anna Lee (Bob) Hooper, Abigail Acker (Jeffrey) Workman, Katie Acker (Brooks) Gallman, Daniel Acker, Jonathan Acker, Matthew (Casey) McNew, Molly McNew (Colton) Thompson, Sam McNew, Ben McNew; and 13 great grandchildren, Max Acker, Kate Acker, Emma Acker, Ellis Hooper, John Franklin Hooper, Bonnie Hooper, Redmond Hooper, Betsy Hooper, Henry Workman, Amelia Workman, Ellie Gallman, Sawyer McNew, Gray Thompson. Mrs. Acker was preceded in death by her brothers A.P. Parton, Jr. and Edwin Parton. She is survived by her sister Eva Lee Smith. She loved and enjoyed her family.

She was known for her loving and kind spirit to everyone, and for her selfless devotion to her family. She was a lifelong member and loyal supporter of the Ohatchee United Methodist Church. Most importantly, she had faith` in Jesus Christ and trusted God.
Services for Mrs. Acker will be at the Oak Bowery Baptist Church in Ohatchee, on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 11AM. The family will receive friends before the service at 10AM until service time. Her grandsons will be her pallbearers. Private graveside services will follow.
