Mr. Marshall Winston Prickett Sr. (86) of Wellington, Alabama passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2020. Funeral services will be held privately for close family on Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at Angel Grove Baptist Church. Distant family and friends can attend virtually by viewing the live stream on the www.facebook.com/AngelGroveBaptist page at 1:00pm. Brother Eugene Burgess and Reverend James Cohorn will officiate. The service will be followed by burial at Union Cemetery.
Mr. Prickett is preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland Prickett Sr., and Beulah Boswell Prickett; sisters, Leola Prickett and Novie Manor; and his brother Sargent Prickett.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Margaret Elwell Prickett; sons Marshall Winston Prickett Jr. (Cherie), Michael Prickett, Matthew Prickett (Amanda); seven grandchildren: Macon Prickett, Mason Prickett (Lauren), McClaine Prickett, McKinley Prickett, Maddie Prickett, McKaden Prickett, and McKenna Prickett; two great grandsons: Montgomery Prickett and Fletcher Prickett, along with his brother, Grover Cleveland Prickett Jr. (Myris), sister, Mary Snelling, and many nieces and nephews.
Marshall was born on October 19th, 1934 to Grover Cleveland Prickett Sr. and Beulah Boswell Prickett. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1953 and married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Elwell, on September 13th, 1958. He served his country with the National Guard until 1962. He worked hard to build a beautiful life for his wife and three sons as a general contractor and owner of Prickett Poultry Farms. Throughout his life, Mr. Prickett served as the Director of the Calhoun County Cattlemen’s Association, Director of the Calhoun County Home Builders Association, Director of the Alabama Farmers Federation, and a Board Member of ALFA Farmers Federation. He served his community as Calhoun County Commissioner (1975 – 1982) and was a dedicated member of Angel Grove Baptist Church for 55 years.
