Anita Lynne Cobb Parker went to her Heavenly Home. on May 31 , 2022. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 25th, 2022 at 10 a.m. and we welcome any friends or family who wish to attend. It will be held at the back side ( Masonic area) of Forest Lawn Cemetery in Golden Springs, Alabama.
Lynne was born on November 3, 1951 and led an extraordinary life in service to her God and beloved nursing profession. Much of her youth was spent in Weaver, Al where she met Brock her husband. They both attended Jacksonville High School and graduated from JSU.
Lynne accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, as did her siblings. Cheryl, her sister joined Lynne and their father to become the gospel singing Bill Cobb Trio. After winning a talent contest when Lynne and Cheryl were 7 and 8 respectively. they were rewarded with a recording session, and the resulting 45 rpm record can still be heard on YouTube as Bill Cobb Trio. They became very successful in the gospel world and would go on concert tours via their bus. The trio recorded 5 albums in the famous Nashville studios. They grew up essentially with many of the folks you now see on TV like the Speers, Goodman's, Oak Ridge Boys, etc. They enjoyed a long gospel singing career that would flourish and continue until Lynne was called to follow her dream of nursing school and Cheryl left to start a family.
At 18 she was fortunate enough to get a scholarship to JSU's new Nursing Class which enabled her to pursue that dream. Lynne then began her career at Anniston Memorial Hospital . While there, she was offered a total scholarship to attend UAB Masters in Nursing Program. Her achievements include graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and authoring a paper, later published in the American Journal of Nursing.
Upon graduating UAB with her Masters in Nursing, she continued her career at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery where she was blessed to stay for over 38 years. While there she began as a floor nurse, was promoted to Assistant then Director of Nursing where she served for many years, until becoming the first female executive in the organization when promoted to Hospital Administrator then retiring as CEO of Baptist South.
Lynne had a richly blessed career and life and was a success at everything she tried. Her most treasured title was Christian, and she exhibited her beliefs and values with every task given her.
She died as she lived, holding steadfast to her faith, and in her last months beat pancreatic cancer and Sepsis, before being taken to her Heavenly Home.
She is survived by Brock Parker, her husband and best friend since they were 11 years old when they met in the sixth grade. Married for almost 49 years, they were a devoted couple who Brock describes as living on the mountain top richly blessed by a God who put them together. Brock has sisters Ann and Debra and their families, who loved Lynne from first meeting her and deeply mourn her death.
Her beloved surviving family members include her sister Cheryl Davidson ( her children Keith and Amanda), brothers Bill Jr ( his daughters Michelle and Erin) and Rodney ( his wife Angela and sons Nick and Chad) and several grand nieces and nephews. Lynne was preceded in death by her beloved mother Frances Cobb and Father Bill Cobb.
Lynne leaves a legacy of love, compassion, strong faith and integrity, and we mourn her passing but give Glory to God for touching our lives.
