Funeral Service for SFC Leroy Bolden will be Monday February 21, 2022, 2 pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 1 until 2 pm prior to the service. Pastor Mark Walker will be officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Bolden was born on January 24, 1933 and passed away at home on February 13, 2022 after a brief illness with pneumonia.
Mr. Bolden is survived by his daughters, Janda Kay Bolden and Mary Ann Bolden Hendrick and husband Robert (Bob) Hendrick; granddaughters, LaCrisha Miller, Brandy Sams, Amy Sams Easterwood, Emerald Porter Barnes and Sherri Bolden Morrison; grandsons, Steven Bolden, Joseph Bolden, John Bolden, and Joshua Bolden; 15 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Doris Faye Trantham Bolden; father Thomas Allen Bolden; mother Florence Opel Gowens and son Steven Lee Bolden, Great-great grandsons, Jeremiah Barnes and Noah Jackson Lee Britton.
Pallbearers are Dalton Easterwood, Brandon Lanfair, Austin Miller, Steven Bolden, Joe Bolden and John Bolden.
Born and raised in Cedartown GA, until he joined the Army at 17 years old. After graduation, he went to the Korean War and fought in the Vietnam War retiring after 20 years of honorable service. He moved the family to Alabama in 1962 buying his first home in 1964, where he lived until his death. He retired from the Army, the State of Georgia and Anniston Army Depot.
He spent his entire life loving his wife of 51 years and the last 21 years missing her every day. He loved his 3 children and all of his grandchildren. He believed in the Lord our God and the Son, Jesus Christ. The last 3 years of his life, he had a little dog named Tiny that he loved and cherished. He will be forever loved by his family and greatly missed until we all meet again in Heaven.
