Joseph Joe Zic Anthony Zicarelli

A Service of Celebration of the Life of Mr. Zicarelli will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Anniston First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Pete Hawker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Church before the Service starting at 1:00 pm.

Mr. Zicarelli is survived by his daughter Janet Zicarelli McDanel, three granddaughters, Emily Lauren McDanel, Caroline Olivia McDanel and Ashton Elizabeth McDanel, a brother, Vincent Zicarelli, a sister, Jean Zicarelli McClung, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Zicarelli is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Georgia Lee Cosby Zicarelli, his parents, Pascal and Mary Zicarelli, his brothers, Mitchell Zicarelli, Lewis Zicarelli, EE Zicarelli, Tommy Zicarelli and Bobby Zicarelli, and his sisters, Lucille Zicarelli Hedrick and Rosetta Zicarelli Bassett.

Mr. Zicarelli was a native of Birmingham, Alabama. Together with his wife, Georgia, they moved to Anniston in 1953 to start a business known as Joe Zic & Company Office Equipment and Supplies, which they owned until 1980, when they sold the business to Fred and Don Kemp.

Mr. Zicarelli was a Veteran of World War II, and during his business career, he was a member of as the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the Anniston chapter of Cost Accountants, United Commercial Travelers, the Camp Committee of the Cottaquilla Council of the Girl Scouts of America, and the Board of Directors of the Northeast Alabama Symphony Orchestra. He was a former officer in the Anniston Civitan Club, chairman of the Retail Diversified Division of the Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Chamber's Tourist and Convention Committee and a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors. He was a former chairman of Anniston's Christmas Parade and he served as chairman of the Publicity Committee of the United Givers Fund.

Special thanks to the Anniston EMS and the Anniston Fire Department, and his wonderful caregivers, Lori Davis, Maria Hazel, Natalie Bushy, Katie Devero, Christy Hyde, Stephanie Wesley and Deborah Story, who helped take care of him over the past few months.

The family will accept flowers or donations to the Anniston First United Methodist Church, where Mr. Zicarelli was a member for 61 years.
