Funeral service for Johnny Mack Grubbs, 68, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Gray Brown-Service with the Rev. Billy Morris and Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Grubbs passed away Tuesday morning at his residence surrounded by his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Lynn Wade Grubbs; sons, John Clifford Grubbs and Rodney Wade Grubbs; grandsons, Austin Wade Grubbs, John Avery Grubbs, William Blake Grubbs and Brodie McSwain Grubbs.
Johnny is preceded in death by his father, Henry Clifford Grubbs and his mother, Linda Donahoo Grubbs. Pallbearers will be Tim McCartney, Nicholas Fink, Phillip Snyder, Wayne Welch, Butch Taylor, T. J. Dunnam, Tom Quinn and Jordan Copeland.
Johnny was born and raised in Anniston and graduated from Anniston High School, Class of 1963. He attended Auburn University and Jacksonville University. His career took him to work at Plant Vogel and the Savannah River Plant, Augusta, Ga. Johnny retired after serving as Compliance Director at Oakridge Nuclear Plant, Oakridge, Tenn. He and Lynn returned to Anniston in 1996. Johnny was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. He is loved by his many friends and relatives and will be greatly missed.
