John Otis Couch, 87, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Noland Hospital, Anniston. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Chapel Hill. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. Couch served 21 years active service in the U.S. Army and 22 years civil service. His tours carried him many places to include Germany, Alaska and France. He had four children, whom he loved very much, Katrina Embler (Donnie), of Thomasville, N.C., Aledia Combs (Ernie), of Anniston, Cledis Couch (Joan) of Inola, Okla., and Anthony Quin Couch, of Weaver. He is also survived by his sister, Verdonia Collins, of Maysville, Ga., and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Kelsey and Nance Ann Brilla Couch; his sister, Leola Couch Reeves and brothers Junus and Talmadge Couch. His life passions were fishing the Coosa River, dove hunting and rabbit hunting with his beloved beagles. He enjoyed cooking his game for family and friends. He also enjoyed planting and growing his garden and weekly yard sales. A "true legend", a man who loved his children, honored his country and cherished every day he spent hunting and fishing.
