Anniston - Funeral services for John W. "Bill" Cargal, 86, of Anniston, will be 1 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at Gray Brown-Service with the Rev. Larry Willingham and the Rev. Mike Drummond officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Cargal died Tuesday at the residence of his daughter, Sandra.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Cargal Blue (John), of Iron City and Carolyn Cargal Hoots (Graham), of Anniston; two sons, Donald W. Cargal Sr., (Deborah), of Oxford and Gary N. Cargal (Kim), of Bremen, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Kevin D. Blue, of Alexandria, Karen Blue Hyde (Jeff), of Heflin, Kalicia Blue Todd (Geoff), of Jacksonville, Karissa Blue Christopher (Wesley), of Iron City, Donald W. "Donny" Cargal Jr., of Oxford, Kaleb O. Cargal and Kirby Cargal, of Bremen, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Kandace Hyde Howard (Jonathan), Billy Todd, J.J. Hyde, Arika Blue, Ashleigh Todd and Sydney Cargal; one great- great-grandson, Levi T. Howard; three sisters, Martha Rhodes (Calvin), of Alexandria, Gean Bonds and Noami Tucker (Merlin), all of Anniston; one brother, Bobby L. Cargal, of Anniston and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cargal is preceded in death by his wife, Janie Henderson Cargal; grandson, Darren C. Cargal; parents, Frank and Bessie Cargal; several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Kevin Blue, Jeff Hyde, Geoff Todd, Wesley Christopher, Billy Todd and J.J. Hyde.
Mr. Cargal was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He retired from Monsanto after 34 years of service. Mr. Cargal was an avid Alabama football and Atlanta Braves fan. He was the best husband, daddy, paw paw and will be greatly missed. A special thank you to Missy, Becky and Lorie of Amedisys Hospice of Rainbow City.
