Jimmy Roy Coleman passed away peacefully on September 19, 2020 at the age of 76. Jimmy was born in Anniston, Alabama in 1944 to Cecil Franklin Coleman and Mary Willa-Dean Sanford Coleman. Jimmy was one of the first in Anniston to become certified as a motorcycle mechanic. In his and his brothers younger days they spent numerous years building drag racing cars. He joined his oldest brother Jerry Coleman in the supermarket salvage business back in the 70’s. This company would become known and Coleman Equipment which is still very active in the refrigerated equipment industry nationally.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Cecil, his mother, Mary Willa-Dean, son, Gary and sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his beloved brothers Jerry Coleman and Steve Coleman, and sister Cecilia Byrd. His son Jimmy Lee Coleman and 2 daughters, Jodi Coleman and Robin Kennamore. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
His infectious spirit will be carried on by every soul he ever met.
His wish was to be cremated and ashes spread at undisclosed locations; Big thanks to Gray Brown in Anniston. Lastly, he asked for a “PARTY”-complete with live music, food and dancing. We will be hosting his party at Coleman Equipment- 715 Noble Street, Anniston, AL on Friday, September 25th from 4-6 pm.
