J.D. is survived by his daughters Gwen Latham (John) and Pam McKenzie; his son Jeffrey Bishop (Kathy); his sister Sue Miller; his grandchildren Jennifer Owen (Mark), Leslie Moody (James), Leigh Prestridge (Eric), Beth Reach (Chase), John Latham (Sharon) and Autumn McKenzie; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents James and Minnie Bishop, loving wives Mary "Libby" Veal Bishop, Mary Vines Bishop and 6 siblings.
A visitation for J.D. will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 542 W 52nd St, Anniston, Alabama 36206, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Crawford officiating. He will be laid to rest at Forestlawn Gardens.
J.D. was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church. He was known for his hobby as a woodworker. He honorably served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was wounded during the war in the Philipines. He was a very humble and generous person. He supported numerous charities.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of J.D. to Rainbow Omega, St. Jude, John Croyle's Big Oak Ranch, Jimmie Hale Mission or a charity of your choice.
J.D. was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed.
