Graveside service for James H. Rooks, 94, of Alexander City formally of Saks will be 1: 00 pm, Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Oak Bowery Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 – 12 pm at Gray Brown-Service Chapel.
Mr. Rooks was born April 13, 1919 to Nancy and Amos Rooks; went to be with the Lord on April 27, 2013. Mr. Rooks was living in Alexander City at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nellie M. Rooks; his parents; two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by one sister, Helen Popham; two daughter, Bobbie N. Walker (Larry) of Wetumpka, and Pamla R. Hunter (Grady) of Ohatchee; four grandsons, Jeffrey Walker, Chris Walker both of Wetumpka, Grady Hunter Jr. and Jacob Hunter both of Ohatchee; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Rooks was an Army WWII veteran. After the war, he worked at an Anniston pipe foundry, and a truck driver for Georgia Highway Trucking. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who have ever met him.
Pallbearer will be family members and friends. A special thank-you to ALACARE Hospice in Montgomery and the staff at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City, who treated Dad with love and respect. His sweet smile would melt your heart.
