Hoyt Smith

Wellington – Funeral service for Mr. Hoyt Eugene Smith, age 88, of Wellington will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24 , 2014, at Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Harry Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Union Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friend’s 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Smith passed away, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at RMC in Anniston.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 56 years Arlene Smith; sons, H.E. Smith Jr. and Jeff (Sharon) Smith; sisters, Evelyn Rich and Frances Nunnelley; brother, Jack (Mary Ella) Smith; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Randy Smith, Bobby Noah, David Nunnelley, Keith Bryant, Roger Flint and Doug Heathcock.

Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Wellington where he was a member of Union United Methodist Church and a local farmer; he also served in the U.S. Army during WWII in which he received numerous medals including the Purple Heart, which he received when the T.S.S. Leopoldville Troop Ship was torpedoed on December 24, 1944.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
