Funeral service for Dorothy “Dot” Hendrick Wade, 95, of Anniston, will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Mack Amis Jr. and Dr. Billy Harris officiating. Entombment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Wade died Thursday evening at NHC place.
Survivors include: daughter, Lynne Burkhart and husband Tommy of Anniston; grandchildren, Gwen Key and husband Scott of Jacksonville, and Joel Burkhart and wife Tammy of Alabaster; great grandchildren, Cory Key, Austin Key and wife Jessica, J.T. Burkhart, Jacob Burkhart, Caitlin Burkhart, Colton Stuman, and Dalton Burkhart; sister, Grace Hendrick Stricklin and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wade is preceded in death by her husband, Joel Morgan Wade; 4 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Garrett, Donnie Sills, Jimmy Perry, Arnold Stern, Jay McElroy, and Tom Wright.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Phebean Sunday School Class
Mrs. Wade was a native to Sliver Run and lived most of her life in Anniston. She retired from the Anniston Army Depot after 32 years of service. She was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church where she taught 1st grade Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Wade was an avid painter and enjoyed singing, especially her favorite song “God bless America”. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to Sharon Forsythe and her staff on the 600 block at NHC Place and Jill Hobbs of Alacare Hospice.
