Betty Handley

Funeral service for Betty Handley, 89 of Anniston will be 2 pm, Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Pastor Daniel Harper and Pastor Tommy Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Handley passed away February 9, 2017 at Anniston RMC.

Survivors include her daughters, Cassondra “Connie” Mays, Rebecca “Becky” Newell (James); step-son, Alvin Edward Handley (Elaine); grandchildren, Jason S. Newell (Sara), Jonathan C. Newell (Wendy), Nicholas W. Mays (Delaney), Nancy Mayfield (Rusty), Michelle Garlin (Nick), Edward Handley and Brandon Handley; 11 great-granddaughters and 4 great-grandsons; her sister, Peggy Doggrell (Bobby) and brother, Harold Holland (Charlotte).

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin E. Handley; son, Dennis E. Handley; step-son, Johnny Handley; father, Claude Holland; mother, Exa Holland; son-in-law, Dick Mays and brother, Raymond Holland.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Mrs. Handley was a native of Blue Mountain and lived in Saks for most of her life. She was a member of Saks Baptist Church and retired from Blue Mountain Industries. She enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.
