Therese Shea (Terry) McDonald, a resident of Delray Beach, Fla. and Annapolis, Md. for the past 30 years and previously of Wyckoff, N.J., died February 1 at Stella Maris Nursing Center in Timonium, Md.
Mrs. McDonald was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marymount College. Her father, the late William F. Shea, served as budget director for the City of New York in the Wagner administration.
She worked as a legal secretary and then in Human Resources for ACF Industries where she administered applicant screening tests; she met her husband, the late Harold O. (Hal) McDonald during his application process. The couple married in 1959 and moved to Norwalk, Conn. in 1961.
In 1965 the family made its home in Wyckoff, N.J., where they raised their children. Terry volunteered as a Brownie leader and Cub Scout den mother, class room mother and as a library assistant at St. Elizabeth School there; as a Junior Women’s Club member she performed in puppet shows for children at the town library. A member of the Rosary Society, she also chaired the fashion show at Immaculate Heart Academy.
Upon her husband’s retirement, they moved to Delray Beach and Heritage Harbor in Annapolis and enjoyed 15 years of international travel. Terry was a longtime bridge and tennis player and had attended Broadway productions regularly. A member of St. Mary Church in Annapolis, she served on its bereavement committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and by her daughter, Tara Ann McDonald in 1995. Survivors include her daughter, Ellen McDonald Perry of Lutherville, Md. her son, William Shea McDonald (Karen), of Downingtown, Pa., five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann in Annapolis with interment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville.
