Shannon Rita Alan, 29, of Annapolis, MD, tragically passed away on June 6, 2024, following a single-car accident. She and her loving fiancé, John Mayer, were joyfully preparing for their wedding, set for October.
Shannon was born on October 17, 1994, in New Jersey to her adoring parents, Mike and the late Clare (Kearney) Alan. She spent her childhood in Sparta, NJ, later moving to Mint Hill, NC, and then to Lewisburg, PA. A proud graduate of Susquehanna University, Shannon earned her degree in Business Administration. She was known for her social nature, inheriting her mother's ability to make friends everywhere she went, always lighting up a room with her kind heart and bright smile.
After graduating from college in 2017, Shannon moved to Maryland, where she thrived in her career, embodying a relentless work ethic and finding fulfillment in helping others.
Soon after moving to Maryland, Shannon met John, and it was evident they had found their best friend and life partner in each other. Shannon was at her happiest when spending time with John and their beloved dog, Remi.
Shannon had a deep love for visiting her dad for quality time, attending concerts with friends and cousins, reading from her ever-growing collection of novels (especially at the beach after a bookstore visit with her Aunt Sheila), and enjoying gatherings with John’s large, loving family, who welcomed her as one of their own.
Shannon is survived by her fiancé John; her father Mike (Debbie); her brother Michael (Sydney); her sister Jessica (Rick); her Aunt Sheila (Tony); her Aunt Vicki (Gus); her Uncle Dave; and John’s family members Joe, Debbie, Joe, Caroline, Gretchen, and Greg. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Shannon’s life will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Mission Church in Annapolis on Wednesday, June 12th at 9 am. Visitation will be held at John M. Taylor Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 11th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Semicolon, a cause Shannon enthusiastically supported, https://www.projectsemicolon.com/ .
