Peter Joseph Wilson, 92, of Annapolis, Maryland, formerly of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 8, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Mary Fitzpatrick of Malahide, Ireland, and Peter Wilson of Philadelphia.
As a young man in Philadelphia, he met the love of his life, Angelina Mary Moccia. They married on March 5, 1954, and spent the next 71 years devoted to each other. Building a beautiful life together, they raised six children, each of whom Pete cherished: Patricia (Ted) Morin of Sutton, Massachusetts; Stephen (Leslie) Wilson of Annapolis; Deborah (Steven) Stanislav of Annapolis; Amy Wilson of Hagerstown; Peter (Stephanie) Wilson of Annapolis; and Angela (Aaron) Hansley of Falling Waters, West Virginia.
His legacy lives on through his 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as Grandpop, or simply Pop, and whom he adored.
After attending St. Joseph’s University, Pete served in the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. His professional experiences ultimately led him and his family to Maryland, where he enjoyed a long and successful career in sales as a manufacturer’s representative, eventually founding and running his own company, Peter J. Wilson and Associates. Beyond his work, he found joy in cruising the Chesapeake Bay on his much loved boat, the Bear’s Necessity, and providing his family with lifelong memories during summers at the Jersey Shore. He never met a stranger, thanks to his remarkable ability to instantly connect with everyone he encountered, often ending conversations by encouraging new friends to “take the rest of the day off.”
Family meant everything to Pete, and he was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. He is survived by his forever-bride, Angelina; his brother, Jimmy; sister-in-law, June; his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers, Bob and Michael, and his sister, Betsy, Pete’s warmth, wisdom, humor, and steadfast love will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m., preceded by a greeting hour at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis.
Afterwards, everyone is encouraged to “take the rest of the day off,” celebrating a life well-lived—just as Pete would have wanted.
In lieu of flowers memorial in his name to Hospice of the Chesapeake 90 Ritchie Highway Pasadena, Maryland 21122 will be appreciated.
