Patty Ryan, 63, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on November 13, 1955 in Washington, D.C. to Dora and Donald Lord and was raised in Prince George’s County.
Patty is survived by her husband Mark and daughter Bridgette Becker, son-in-law Gavin Becker, grandson Paddy Becker, sisters Donna Abbenante, Kathleen Feroli, Annette Burress, Linda Fitzgerald, Mary Fox, and Kerry Clay; brother Michael Lord, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Donald Lord, Jr. Patty lived in Eastport, and she influenced the lives of many local children as a special education teacher for over 35 years before retiring in 2011.
She was an extremely loving and doting wife and mother, adoring grandmother, and loyal friend. She will be remembered for her open-hearted nature, kindness, humor, infectious laugh, and zest for life. Her family and friends will always treasure memories of enjoying her Italian cookies, toffee, and buttercreams and listening to her stories. Patty enjoyed happy hours with friends, Wii bowling tournaments and Jeopardy, had an affinity for slot machines, an obsession with the Redskins, and always looked forward to the family Christmas parties.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, December 16th at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 17th at St. John Newmann Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road at 10:30 a.m. Donations in Patty’s name may be made to fund Dr. Robert Wise’s COPD research at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Please direct the gifts to Anne M.
