Noah Charles Watkins, 31, died July 20, 2015 at his home in Annapolis, Maryland – complications from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Noah was born August 5, 1983 in Boulder, Colorado. His body lacked the ability to repair muscle cells. His mind and heart had no such deficiency, nor did his soul. Noah’s condition, known as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy forced Noah to face an extraordinary number of challenges throughout his life. But he would not allow himself to be defined by his disease; he fought hard every day to keep up with his friends and peers. He succeeded despite the loss of the many activities and pleasures most take for granted. Noah always pursued the next challenge after forfeiting the previous one. When he lost the use of his legs, he used his arms; when he lost the use of his arms, he used his hands; when he lost the use of his hands, he used his fingers. He always got back up after falling down. Noah was never defeated. He was a pillar of strength and courage to all that knew him. His soul soared. Noah graduated from Broadneck High School in 2000 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Salisbury University in 2005. He was employed by Hill & Associates, Inc. as an Energy Research Associate from 2006 to 2010. Noah is survived by his father, Jeffrey Watkins, and his brother, Woodrow Watkins, of Annapolis, along with many devoted relatives and friends. His beloved mother, Lillian Wusthoff Watkins predeceased Noah on November 11, 2006. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. Burial will be the following day at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Annapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.
