She was born to Bernard and Pauline McCourt on June 27, 1929 in Baltimore City, Maryland. Lois was a graduate of IND and the College of Notre Dame. She became an elementary school teacher and school administrator in the Baltimore parochial school system and then continued to teach at St. Mary’s g Grade School until retirement.
After college graduation, she married William J. Monaghan on November 22, 1952 and proceeded to have a family of five, Bill, Mike, Joseph, Mary Pat and Jackie. She loved spending time with her children and their families and her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren in Sherwood Forest, her favorite place, where she enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bridge.
Lois is survived by all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, Bill, predeceased her in 2011.
There will be a funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 9:00 AM with burial to follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.
