Judith Stewart

Judy’s life was family, friends and community. She married her husband, Lamon, at age 21, after falling in love while he played Perez Prado’s Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White on his trumpet during a high school assembly. In her early life, she devoted much of her time and energy to raising four girls and supporting her husband in his career. Midlife, she dedicated years of hard work in program management and fundraising for the YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, the Arthritis Foundation, Stepping Out for Breast Cancer and as a board member of the former Anne Arundel Medical Center, with a focus on fundraising for it’s new breast center.

Judy was also a woman of words and wit. She loved to tell jokes and stories, write poems, journal and read biographies, women’s literature and stories of those conquering their fears, hardship and pain. Her sense of humor was palpable in Hooterville, “a lyrical story with a serious message for women,” written by Judy as part of a fundraising effort to increase breast cancer awareness.

Generous in spirit and eternally optimistic, Judy led her life with grace, encouragement for others and an unspoken desire to look forward. She was predeceased by her husband, Lamon, and is survived by her four daughters, Shannon, Robin, Kelley and Tobi Stewart.
