Jean Frances Somerville Schuncke, aged 88 of Annapolis, passed away on April 26th, 2018 after a brief hospitalization from a heart condition. Jean was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 19, 1929 to Harry Frances and Marian Edwina Somerville.
Upon graduating Eastern High School in Baltimore, she enrolled in Bard-Avon Secretarial School. This led to a position at the J.E. Greiner Engineering Company, which was engaged in the Bay Bridge project at the time. She was one of the first women to walk across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in 1952. Later after raising her children, Jean worked as the administrative assistant to the president of Congressional Country Club for 20 years.

Jean and her husband Paul were long time members of St Raphael Catholic Church in Rockville, Maryland, where they worshiped daily. Jean was a Sacristan and member of the Altar Society. Jean enjoyed traveling with Paul and their church group and went to Europe, Russia, and Israel.
Jean moved to Annapolis Maryland in 2015 and enjoyed the views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge from her new home at Bay Woods.
Jean was warm hearted and quick to laugh with a great sense of humor. She was always thinking of others and often stowed away small gifts to give when least expected. She loved cats, golf, and a good sale. She especially loved her grand daughter Elizabeth Reid and enjoyed attending classical concerts where Reid played Viola.
