James (Jim) Robert Driscoll, 84, of Annapolis, MD passed away Friday, October 13. 2017 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Jim was born July 10, 1933 in Dunkirk, NY, to Alta and Jerome Driscoll, the youngest of 5 brothers and 1 sister, all now deceased. He grew up in Brocton, NY and graduated from Brocton Central High School in 1951. Over the years Jim traveled back to Brocton many times to attend his High School reunions. As a boy Jim loved working on the farm, as well as hunting and fishing. He was a member of The Future Farmers of America and worked as a volunteer fireman for the town of Brocton. In 1953 he married Lillian (Susie) Erickson, now deceased. In 1962 Jim moved to Menlo Park, NJ where he earned an Associate Degree from Newark College of Engineering while working as a draftsman for Worthington Corp. He moved to Iselin, NJ in 1965 and then worked for Buffalo Tank. In 1980 his job transferred him to Arnold, MD and in 1985 he moved to Annapolis, MD where he worked as a mechanical draftsman for Hoover Corp. Not quite ready for retired life, Jim became a courier for Severn Savings Bank and after several years finally did decide to retire. Jim is survived by his devoted loving wife Adrienne (nee Kane) whom he married on November 27, 2000. Together they enjoyed a full life as members of the Elks, Moose, American Legion and former members of the Fleet Reserve. They both loved traveling, music, dancing and all the club activities. Jim is also survived by his daughters, Diane Jones, husband Eugene, of Edison, NJ and Shelly Dodge, husband Fred, of Crownsville, MD, as well as his stepsons, Gordon Kane, wife Joanne, of Palm Bay, FL, and George (Larry) Kane, wife Cissy, of Edgewater, MD. Jim was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Jim’s family cherished him as a loving, kind, generous husband, father and grandfather who was happiest when the family was together laughing and telling stories. Jim will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401 on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 11 am. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would also be welcomed.
