

Jacqueline MaryAnn Ramey Calabrese (Jackie), age 90, of Annapolis, Maryland passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at her home surrounded by her children. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Julia and Jack Ramey. Moved to Annapolis in 1946 and was married to the late John Calabrese in 1951. They were married for 63 years and had three children. The oldest, Andrew John Calabrese, preceded them in death in 2010.
Jackie was a long-time member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis; a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annapolis #326; an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary; and a member of the Ladies of the Elks, Annapolis Elks Lodge #622. Mrs. Calabrese taught Third Grade at St. Mary's Elementary School for 37 years. After her retirement in 2001, she was a substitute teacher for the next nine years. She also taught first grade Religious Education for six years. She was devoted to her family, friends and Catholic faith. Her interests included reading, writing (including poems), music, and animals -- especially cats. Also, she loved serving friends and family big Italian meals.
Survived by her son Joseph Calabrese (Mary), daughter Cecilia Bast (Jeff) and daughter-in-law Judy; five grandchildren, Ann Marie Foreman (Timothy), Jeffrey Bast, Jr. (Krista), Andrew Calabrese (Genna), John Calabrese (Noelle) and Richard Calabrese; and five great-grandchildren, Maci, Melani, Alice, Billy and Lexi; her siblings Richard Lozinski (Cindy) of Tucson, Arizona; Sandy Harshberger and Nancy Stolz of Altoona, Pennsylvania; and Susan Hillegass of Bedford, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law Frank Calabrese (Vickie); sister-in-laws Anna Calabrese and Rose Sears.
A visitation for Jacqueline will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:30 AM in Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.
