Frederick E. Taylor, Ph.D. went to be with the Lord on the 13th of December, 2022. He accepted the promise of the resurrection peacefully at his home in the presence of his devoted wife of 68 years, Ruth Hager Taylor. He is also survived by his three children: Deborah Taylor, Diana Oldham and her spouse Derek, David Taylor and his partner Claire May. Fred, affectionately referred to as “Granddaddy”, adored his six grandchildren: Nicole, Danielle, Noelle, Justin, Kiersten, and Brittany. He was also blessed with six great grandchildren.
At the young age of 92, capturing his incredible life story is impossible within this obituary. Fred was born in 1930 and at the age of 18 joined the Marine Corps. His dedication to the country continued as a Civil Servant for 30 years. Fred was a mentor and role model to many. He was appointed as an adjunct professor for several years.
Fred was an avid baseball fan with a distinct love of the Boston Red Sox. This passion for the game led him to write a book on the statistics of baseball, The Runmakers: A New Way to Rate Baseball Players . Fred and Ruth traveled the globe, experiencing the culture and sights of 67 countries and all 50 states. His life reflected an individual that valued his family, cherished his friends, and enjoyed each and every day. The celebration of this amazing life will take place on January 4th. The family will accept visitors from 12:00 - 12:45 pm with a service at 1:00pm at First Presbyterian Church of Annapolis: 171 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21401.
A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
