Obituary of Douglas “Doug” Cameron Smith
Doug was born in California and lived in Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and Venezuela. He’s been settled in Annapolis for the past 25 years. Doug attended school in Maryland, Virginia, and Venezuela before graduating in Annapolis, after which he earned an Associate's Degree for Electronic Engineering from RETS Electronic School in Baltimore, MD. Doug worked at Silver Ball Arcade, as an electrician at Colonial Electric and Kraft Foods, and head of maintenance at O’Callaghan’s Annapolis Hotel, but his favorite job by far was as an inspector for numerous gas pipelines, which allowed him to travel across the continental US. Doug loved card games with friends, playing pool, traveling, Steven King’s works, tinkering and repairing things, and spending time with his family and friends or chatting with his neighbors. He was always glad to offer a helping hand to anyone, friend or stranger. Predeceased by his mother, Patricia Smith. Survived by his father, Col. Richard Smith, his sister, Poppy Meehan, his brother, Mark Smith, his daughters Willow Smith and Ivy Irish, and his grandsons, Atlas and Avery Irish. Please join us for a Memorial Reception with light refreshments on Saturday, September 10th, 2022, from 1:00-4:00 pm.
