Cecelia Gregory, age 90 passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Chesapeake on May 13, 2017 after complications following surgery. Ceil moved to Annapolis in 1952 when her husband Mike became the editor of the local navy newspaper the Severn Soundings. Her children were born at the former Navy Hospital in Annapolis. After her husbands’ sudden death in 1956, she raised her 2 children Patrick and Kathy in Annapolis. Ceil was a long standing member of St Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. Patrick and Kathy attended and graduated from the St Mary's School System. Ceil worked and retired from the old Anne Arundel General Hospital when it was located in downtown Annapolis. She was always there to help others in need. She loved to travel. She will be missed by those that had the opportunity to know her. She left an impression on all those she touched. Ceil was born in Olean NY. Ceil is preceded in death by her parents Milton and Cecelia Barney of Chesapeake Beach Md, a sister Betty Dodd, brothers Robert and Milton Barney . She is survived by a son Patrick Gregory (Trish) of Davidsonville, daughter Kathy Gregory (Carl Robinson) of Severna Park, and a sister Patricia Callahan of Salisbury. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Gregory of Edgewater and Leanne Gregory of Crofton. The family will receive friends at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street Annapolis, MD 21401 on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Catholic Church 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Saturday at 9 AM. Interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
