Susan Elizabeth Adamson age 97 of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the age of 97. She was born in New Albany, Indiana, on January 4, 1926, to Harry Andros Huncilman and Farrald Gretchen Huncilman (Miller). Her family moved to multiple cities during her childhood as her father pursued his military career. She graduated from Purdue University where she met the love of her life, the late professor Thomas C. Adamson, Jr., on a blind date. They were married on September 16, 1949, in LaGrange Illinois, and moved to Pasadena California for five years before settling in Ann Arbor Michigan in 1955. Sue and Tom became lifetime members of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where they were ardent supporters of The Breakfast at St. Andrew’s, which has provided breakfast to the community for four decades. Susan loved playing bridge at the Ann Arbor City Club where she achieved the level of Bronze Life Master. She enjoyed summers at Huron Valley Swim Club where she took her children and grandchildren to swimming, diving, and tennis lessons. Her lifetime passion was figure skating. As a member of the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club (AAFSC) she helped produce “Melody on Ice” for many years and taught every family member to skate. She competed as a member of the Debonaires Adult Synchronized Skating Team until age 72. She was also a respected skating judge and was awarded the U.S. Figure Skating 50-year judging certification. She served as AAFSC Test Chair for many years. She is survived by two sons, Thomas C. Adamson, III (Ellen Rand Adamson) and William Andros (Andy) Adamson (Lesli Weston); five grandchildren, Weston Adamson (Leonie Cunningham), Ariel Adamson (James Jilek), Emily Adamson (Jordan Young), Gregory Adamson (Melissa Adamson), Maeve Daly (Tyson Fredriksen); and five great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Laura Adamson-Daly-Myklebust (the late Robert Daly, Trond Myklebust), died in April 2016. Susan was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be missed deeply. Her family thanks the wonderful staff at Brookdale Memory Care of Ann Arbor for their kind and compassionate care these past several years. Memorial gifts in Susan Elizabeth Adamson’s name can be sent to The Breakfast at St Andrews, 306 N. Division, Ann Arbor Michigan 48104.
