He was born on August 19, 1943 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Son of Albert Chadsey and Marian Crafts Chadsey.
He graduated from Ann Arbor High School (‘61), The University of Michigan (‘66) and Columbia University Graduate School of Business (‘70). Between college and graduate school Stan served in the Peace Corps in Panama, where he helped locals to establish businesses. After receiving his MBA, he worked in accounting and banking before opening his own business in 1986 as a portfolio manager.
Growing up, his family belonged to the First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor. Later in life he converted to Judaism and became an active member in New York’s Central Synagogue where he enjoyed the adult education program and social justice initiatives.
Stan’s passion for learning was a constant part of his life. He always had a stack of books on his nightstand and took great pleasure in learning deeply about any subject that interested him. The only hobby that could match his love for learning was the joy he got from gardening and visiting botanical gardens. Later in life he discovered philanthropy and had fun supporting the causes most important to him.
He is survived by his partner Steandly Fardian Eko, his sons Andrew and David Chadsey, their mother Ruth Chadsey, and his sister Diane Chadsey Keivit.
A graveside service for Stanley will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 at 1:30 at Bethlehem
Cemetery, 2801 Jackson Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
