Funeral services for Sandra Lee Raymond, a resident of Ann Arbor will be held at 11:00 a.m. – Noon Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 South Fourth Avenue, Ann Arbor, Michigan. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2nd and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3rd (prior to the service).
Mrs. Raymond passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor. Sandy Raymond was born December 14, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Lloyd and Vivian Bleau. She was united in marriage to Eldon “Al” Raymond on August 29, 1964 and enjoyed over 53 years of blissful married life to her loving husband.
Sandy’s recent years were filled with extensive world travel, working local elections, volunteering for Meals on Wheels and supporting other local charities in the Ann Arbor area. Prior to retirement, Sandy managed their family owned restaurants in Ann Arbor and also sold her woodworking at craft shows throughout the state of Michigan.
Before moving to Ann Arbor in the early 1980s, Sandy and Al resided in Livonia, Michigan for approximately 20 years. Sandy was a proud homemaker, active in her local community as a member of the PTA, Board Member of the Livonia Arts Commission, census worker, local campaign worker, and Campfire Girl leader. Sandy was also an adult college student, completing two years at Livonia’s Schoolcraft College. Prior to her marriage, Sandy was employed professionally as a service representative for Michigan Bell Telephone in Detroit, Michigan.
In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by her children; Michelle (Kevin) Hurlahe, Saline, MI, Carrie (Johnny) McDaniel, Sherman Oaks, CA, Kristine (Adam) Rondeau, Brighton, MI; Sisters-in-law Nancy Bleau, Milford, MI, Rhea Heil, Birmingham, MI, Joyce DuBrin-Gold, Sun City, AZ, Sharon (Leonard) Rosen, Farmington Hills, MI; and grandchildren Ashley Marie Madison, Sherman Oaks, CA, John (Jennifer) Hurlahe, Ann Arbor, MI, Colin Rondeau, Alexa Rondeau, and Rayanna Rondeau, Brighton, MI.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Raymond in 1998 and her brother Joseph “Skip” Bleau in 2017.
Sandy and Al continue to support the University of Michigan Depression Center.
