Robert Merton (Bob) Hall, 101, of Ann Arbor passed away on October 23, 2015 at University Living in Ann Arbor. Born in Harrisburg, PA, to James and Margaret (Resch) Hall, he spent his life in Ann Arbor. He attended Eberbach Elementary, Tappan Junior High, and graduated from Ann Arbor High School. He attended University of Michigan engineering school. Bob made a career as a machinist, tool maker and shop supervisor, retiring as senior engineer in 1976 from Tecumseh Products Research Lab. As a young man Bob was a camp counselor and director. He was an avid swimmer all his life. He swam daily at the Ann Arbor Y for decades where he had many friends. He enjoyed all outdoor activities including canoeing, fishing and hunting. During WWII Bob served in the Army Air Corp in England and France as an aircraft engine mechanic and line chief. Bob married Anne (Suchanek) Hall of Flint, MI, in 1943. After his discharge in 1945 they resided in Ann Arbor. They were married for 68 years. Bob is survived by his sister Margaret McIntyre, his four children, Kathleen Hall, Stephanie Hall, Jane Oxender (Derrick), Fred Hall (Maggie Bayless), and his six grandchildren, Anna Carollo, Margaret Carollo, Bryan Oxender, Andrew Oxender (Rachel), Leo Bayless-Hall and Eric Bayless-Hall. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne, and his sisters Mary Alice Waltz and Jean Surns. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 29, from 2:00-5:00 at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel in Ann Arbor.
