Rebecca Sue Horvath passed away on October 17, 2022. Becky considered herself a lifelong resident of Ann Arbor. She was born there on December 19, 1934, the daughter of Dorothea Geiger Badger and Percy Albro Badger. She earned a degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan in 1956.
She married William Horvath in 1963 and had two children, Susan and John. In 1980 she graduated from the University of Michigan School of Education with a PhD In Child Psychology and then taught psychology at Henry Ford Community College for eighteen years.
Music filled Becky's life. She was a member of the Dlxboro United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, occasionally directing it. She played oboe with the Washtenaw Community Band for several years. She was a staunch supporter of the Ann Arbor Symphony and the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance.
She loved to cook and looked forward to hosting an annual Soup Supper with the International Cooking Group as well as New Year Eve gatherings for the neighbors in Laurel Gardens. She loved to share her recipes as well as the food.
Becky loved to travel and made it to five continents. She always enjoyed exploring new places, and finding special Christmas ornaments to give to her grandchildren.
Becky was predeceased by her husband, William Horvath, brother, William Badger, and sister-in-law Gertrude Badger. She is survived by her daughter Susan Ferreira (Mark), son John Horvath, granddaughter Angela Ferreira and grandson Nicholas Ferreira, nieces Beth Badger and Dawn (Bruce) King, and nephews Paul (Besie) Badger and Carl Badger.
A funeral service will 10:00 a.m. at Dixboro United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 22nd Interment will follow at Arborcrest Cemetery, Ann Arbor Ml.
What many people will remember most about Becky was her generosity, in the form of scholarships and donations to many charities. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her memory to your favorite charity.
